چکیده

Attractin (ATRN, mahogany) is a gene involved in the regulation of pigmentation, body weight regulation and formation of the central nervous system in mammals (Gunn et al., 2001; He et al., 2001). Moreover, a soluble form of attractin found in humans is implicated in monocyte spreading and T-cell clustering (Duke-Cohan et al., 1998). In mice Atrn was mapped to MMU2, 73.9 cM (www.informatics.jax.org). By EST database searching Tang et al., (2000) mapped ATRN to human chromosome 20p13. Bovine ATRN was mapped to chromosome 13 by linkage analysis (Edeal et al., 2000). Here we report the physical mapping of bovine ATRN to BTA 13q21→22 by FISH. Materials and methods

Regional Assignment of the Rat Alpha-Feto Protein Gene (Afp) to Chromosome 14p21-p22

The gene encoding alpha fetoprotein (locus symbol Afp) was assigned to rat chromosome 14 at band p21-p22 using fluorescence in situ hybridization method. The present result suggests that there is a conserved syntenic group between human 4q11-q13, mouse 5F-G, and rat 14p21-p22.

Regional Assignment of Ptpre Encoding Protein Tyrosine Phosphataes ε to Mouse Chromosome 7F3

Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPases) regulate the tyrosine phosphorylation of target proteins in‌volved in several biological activities including cell proliferation and transformation. Protein tyrosine phosphatase E (PTPE) contains duplicated PTPase-like domains and a short extracellular region. Us‌ing the fluorescence in situ hybridization method, the gene encoding PTPE (locus symbol Ptpre...

Atrn protein and mRNA in the testis and epididymis of rats at different stages of maturation. Testis and epididymidis samples were obtained from the following 5 groups of Sprague Dawley (SD) rats in different developmental stages: newborn

Attractin (Atrn), an autosomal recessive gene, is widely expressed in the body and displays multiple physiological and pathological functions in different types of tissues. The objective of this study was to localize Atrn protein and mRNA in the testis and epididymis of rats at different stages of maturation. Testis and epididymidis samples were obtained from the following 5 groups of Sprague D...

Secreted and membrane attractin result from alternative splicing of the human ATRN gene.

Attractin, initially identified as a soluble human plasma protein with dipeptidyl peptidase IV activity that is expressed and released by activated T lymphocytes, also has been identified as the product of the murine mahogany gene with connections to control of pigmentation and energy metabolism. The mahogany product, however, is a transmembrane protein, raising the possibility of a human membr...
